Judges comment on "Call Upon"

Our song "Call Upon" was a big hit at this year's Acorn Singer Songwriter Competition Finals! "Amazing...I got goosebumps...the world needs this song," were some of the comments from the Grammy Award Winning rockstar Jim Peterik (Eye of the Tiger, Survivor). @Marcus & Marketo were in the top 8 chosen to perform from over 100 submissions for the contest, and were unanimously selected to be amongst the top three to perform a second time for the final crowd vote. In a venue full of people from all different backgrounds, our message about the love of God placed second in this prestigious competition! Thank you to Acorn Theater for welcoming us with open arms. We'll see you again soon!

ARTIST BIO

Marcus and Marketo have been singing together for nearly six years after connecting through Craigslist. The only thing they seemed to have in common when they met was that they were both combat veterans, they both loved to sing, and they both had a great desire to use their gifts for God. Somehow when Marcus' powerful vocals blend with the clarity of Marketo’s voice, they make a sound that moves people from all walks of life. The duo has an eclectic writing style with Marketo’s gospel roots and classical training, and Marcus’s love of country and soul. This produces a sound that gives audiences an experience that is new and refreshing, but also feels nostalgic and familiar.

Marcus & Marketo lead worship not only at homeless shelters and churches, but also at venues such as the prestigious Acorn Theater, where Grammy Award winning songwriter Jim Peterik shouted, “Amazing!” from his seat. “...honestly I got goosebumps.”

The group of friends have released two music projects, “Adoration Worship: Live in South Bend, Vol. 1” and “Living Room Sessions: Worship EP.” They also release videos of original music and covers on their Facebook Page (facebook.com/adorationworship).

You can worship with them live every week at That Church Downtown (yes that’s the name) in South Bend, Indiana, where Marketo's husband, Gil preaches with passion and humor, and Marcus' wife, Dakota loves on all the babies in the nursery. Together, their two families have seven beautiful children.
